Livorno, western Italy, 1926. Bar Roma at the central plaza in the city is teeming with life. It is one of a few historic spots in the town which is an important meeting place for the cultural cream of the society at the beginning of the 20th century. Located at the Tuscan coast, it was one of the first cities in Italy which imported coffee – its  tradition of serving coffee dates back to the 17th century. The coffee served in the Bar Roma comes from the store of Antonio and Luigi Meschini, the brothers who started to sell spices and coffee from Latin America in 1895. The Meschini brothers roast the coffee beans on their own and deliver their signature coffee blends to many cafés around the city. But it is the Bar Roma that received in 1926 their unique coffee blend which is still produced in an unchanged form by the descendants of Antonio and Luigi: Arcaffè Roma.

From Passion to Coffee

A hundred years later, the passion for coffee in the Meschini family remains intact, as well as the fact that they deliver coffee to the cafés – now to hundreds of coffee spots all over the world. The Arcaffè company has been developed by five generations of the Meschinis. The process of choosing and acquiring the coffee beans, and the technology behind their processing has changed over the years, but the process still rests on the shoulders of the people who put their heart into what they do – today Arcaffè proudly call themselves ‘a modern company with traditions’.

The production process begins on the plantations in America, Africa and Asia visited by the representatives of Arcaffè who come to pick the best beans for their coffee blends and watch over the processing in place. This constantly broadens their knowledge on coffee and allows them to perfect the product which they serve to their clients. Coffee from Lago do Morro in Brazil – soft and full, from San Luis on Salvador – smooth and round, from Sidamo in Ethiopia – elegant and aromatic.

‘Our journey is driven by our love for gaining knowledge. […] It is the desire to know everything we possibly can about coffee and transform it into excellent quality’.

Press materials from Arcaffè

Coffee from small and large plantations gets to the factory, renovated in 2012 and equipped with state-of-the-art coffee roasters. Coffee of various origins is roasted separately and cooled down, then mixed according to the recipe developed for espresso-made Arcaffè blends, including the Roma blend, which has been produced for nearly 100 years.

Certified Quality

Arcaffè coffees are certified by the Italian Certified Specialty Coffee (CSC) association. Its strict procedures provide control over the whole production process and guarantee the highest quality of coffee beans. The certificate was registered in 1996 and the members of association currently include ten coffee producers from Italy and Switzerland.

To ensure the quality of CSC-certified coffees, Technical Committee determines the characteristics of the beans for every country of origin, which defines its excellence, and then every year controls the samples of the beans from these countries of origin according to the established norms. In addition, whenever the ordered beans come to Italy, Technical Committee collects the sample and assesses its quality through cupping and comparison with the expected characteristics. If the quality is a match, the association sends the producer a proper amount of certified labels.

Excellent Choice for Your Café and Your Office

Arcaffè is an excellent choice for your café – first of all because of the taste. Lighter roasting of the beans (medium instead of dark) highlights acidity, sweetness and natural flavour notes.

Typically beans of low quality are roasted really dark because the degree of roast is supposed to cover defects and imperfections of green beans. Espresso from such beans is bitter and simply tasteless, which the cafés ‘disguise’ with milks and flavoured syrups. Coffees by Arcaffè will brew a complex, aromatic espresso appreciated both by the espresso connoisseurs and those who love all kinds of espresso-based beverages.

Paweł Krysiński, Ninja Salesman at Coffeedesk highlights that Arcaffè is a brand which produces exceptionally tasty and versatile coffees: ‘Thanks to a wide portfolio of blends the Arcaffè’s offer is suitable for everyone and works both with black and milk-based coffees. So, Arcaffè coffees will work well in the cafés which have one grinder and use the same coffee to prepare espresso and milk-based coffees. What’s more, Italian coffee is required and appreciated by the customers – they’ll definitely recognize the quality of Arcaffè’.

What makes Arcaffè stand out is excellent price/quality ratio. At a slightly higher price than the mass-produced beans of unknown origin you can have coffee of certified quality with knowledge of its exact origin. A lot of our customers, once they tried Arcaffè coffees, remain faithful to them for many years.

Perfect Taste

The brand offers six carefully selected blends with individual flavour profiles. What they all have in common is full transparency of the origin of the beans in the packet. The components of the blend are carefully described on the label and every component comes from one plantation (except for coffees from Ethiopia). It is very important because it means that when you drink coffees by Arcaffè you know exactly which plantations the beans come from. And the quality stands for the flavour: let’s take a closer look at the Arcaffè’s offer.
